The Battle for Round Swamp, Md.

The small fictitious village of Round Swamp, Maryland lies in the rolling country of western Maryland, near the Pa. border. The citizens of the village are of mixed loyalties which seem to sway with the forces occupying the area at the time. In july of 1864 a band of Confederate troopers entered the village requesting board and provisions. They enquired of any Union forces in the area and were given seemingly misleading information. A Union detachment was sighted approaching the village and the battle for Round Swamp begun. The Union forces were able to drive the enemy out but were unable to take the high ground. The Union flag was flying in the village but for how long, none knows. The following are views of the engagement without captions
